Amar'e, 29, told People Magazine, "I have been planning my proposal for a while and overlooking the entire Paris skyline seemed like a perfect place. I am so happy she said 'yes', and now we can continue to build our life together as husband and wife." The pro-basketball player proposed at 11 p.m. local time outside of their penthouse at Le Meurice Hotel Belle Etoile Royal Suite, whilst overlooking the Eiffel tower. He designed the engagement ring with Los Angeles based jeweler Shayan Afshar. The 8.5 carat radiant-cut ring has 3.50 carats of flawless diamonds set in 18-carat white gold, it is worth more than $1 million.
Amar'e and Alexis have been together for 10 years (minus the time he was with Ciara). Theymet in 2002, when he was playing with the Phoenix Suns. They have three children (two girls, one boy), the oldest two being daughter A're (born in 2005) and son Amar'e Jr. (born in 2006). They plan to wed in 2013.
